  17. What is it ?
  18.  
  19. PowerST is an AtariST emulator for Macintosh.  You can use it to run
  20. your AtariST software on your Macintosh.

  23. How to use it ?
  24.  
  25. The emulator needs a copy of the AtariST ROM to function.  An Atari
  26. utility (tosdump.prg) will enable you to transfer the ROM contents to
  27. a MS-DOS 720Kb floppy-disk.  The file needs to be renamed TOS.IMG and
  28. placed in the same folder as PowerST in order to be recognized by
  29. the emulator.
  30.  
  31. TOS 1.0, 1.2 and 1.4 can be used with this release of the emulator. TOS 1.0
  32. is recommended for running games.  Original AtariST floppy-disks
  33. cannot be read directly by the Macintosh.  'Dust' (by Marcus Philips)
  34. is able to build disk images which can be used by PowerST.

  36. The emulator automatically inserts the disk images named 'disk1.st' 
  37. and 'disk2.st' when you run it.

  39. The emulator will boot on the hard drive  (C:) if no disk-image is inserted in drive A:

  41. The joysticks are activated with the Caps-Lock key:

  43. - Joystick 1: fire=ctrl, directions = kolm
  44. - Joystick 2: fire=option, directions = gyjh
  45.  
  46. The right button of the ST mouse is emulated by apple-clicking and the
  47. help key by F12.

  50. WARNING !  Using version 2.2 of PC Exchange (coming with MacOS 8.1) to
  51. transfer files to the Atari hard disk can seriously damage its root
  52. directory.  It is best to use an earlier version (like 2.05).

  55. Minimum configuration:

  57. - Power Macintosh,
  58. - 18 Mb free RAM,
  59. - 256-color display.
  60. - Quicktime 2.5 for MIDI OUT. 
  61. - OMS for using PowerST with MIDI hardware (you can get OMS at http://www.opcode.com/).

  67. -ST Ram from 512Kb to 14Mb.
  68. -Video shifter (320*200, 640*200 et 640*400),
  69. -MFP (Timer a-d),

  71. -IKBD: keyboard, mouse and 2 joysticks,
  72. -All interrupts with priorities,
  73. -FDC supporting .ST and .MSA format disk images,
  74. -Rasters (Low and Medium resolution),
  75. -Blitter,
  76. -Hard Disk Drive in DiskCopy format (TOS 1.4 needed),
  77. -RTC.
  78. -MIDI via QuickTime (OUT only) and via OMS (IN & OUT).

  94. - New Hard disk driver (verion 0.3).

  100. - Tos 1.6 and 2.x are not working.
  101. - Some sampled sounds are not played.
  102. - It may be necessary to restart the ST after having activated the sound.

  109. present 'readme' file is included.  If you wish to distribute this
  110. software on CD-ROM, please contact me first so I can send you the latest version
